no to say the 4870 x2 is a bad card.. but the drivers on it suck real balls. I used to be on the red side back in the day but switching over to green (nvidia) just gave me more stable frame rates. the only reason the 4870 x2 wins vs the single gtx280 is because the ati is fucking 2gb memory where as the gtx 280 only has 1gb. nvidia wont release a dx10.1 card because dx11 is coming out what almost 2 years? They would much rather wait than producing a rediculus 2gb card. the proper way to measure fair performance would be dual gtx 280 1gb each in sli to match the 4870 2gb. 2gb vs 2gb. (not 1gb vs 2gb). Hand in hand they are both good cards it all comes down to personal preference. you can spend a couple more bucks for a 2gb card but in 2 years when dx11 comes out guarantee that ati will be put down by nvidia and there rapid new technology.
